Stop the War condemns the murder of top Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh in an ambush near Tehran. The killing of Fakhrizadeh follows the assassination of several other leading Iranian nuclear scientists. There have been widespread reports that Israeli intelligence and secret services have been green lighted to mount attacks on Iranian nuclear installations in the last weeks of Trump’s administration.
Under Trump the US has ramped up the pressure against Iran and built an aggressive anti-Iranian alliance across the region. Incidents like this attack threaten to tip the Middle East over into war. The killing must be condemned around the world, sanctions against Iran must be ended and clear signals given of a return to diplomacy to defuse the situation.
