Stop the War Statement on the outgoing President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews comments in today’s Daily Telegraph
The Stop the War Coalition rejects the allegations made by Jonathan Arkush, the outgoing President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, that we are a source of anti-semitic discourse. On the contrary Stop the War has never indulged in anti-semitism. We have in fact been involved in many initiatives explicitly opposing anti-semitism. We have of course regularly protested against serial Israeli aggressions on the Palestinian people and on others in the Middle East.
Criticising and campaigning against such attacks is not anti-semitic, it is part of our consistent opposition to wars and occupations in the Middle East. Doing so is particularly important to us as Israeli aggressions are routinely backed by our government and its foreign allies. We will continue to oppose such attacks now and in the future.
