He is a lifelong opponent of militarism, nuclear weapons and, above all, the war policies of successive British governments.
He campaigned tirelessly against the bloody and illegal war of aggression against Iraq, and spoke on our platform at all the vast demonstrations against that war.
He opposed the futile Afghan war and twenty-year occupation throughout.
He was one of the very few MPs with the foresight to oppose the disastrous military intervention in Libya.
He is a lifelong champion of the Palestinian people’s long struggle for justice and has spoken at every one of the 14 national demonstrations demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as at many local events.
As Labour leader he placed the values of peace and disarmament at the heart of British politics, and we deplore the sanctions taken against him by the present Labour leadership.
We were proud to have Jeremy serve as the Stop the War Coalition’s Chair from 2011 to 2016, and as a vice-president ever since.
We would urge all voters in Islington North to support Jeremy and ensure his return to parliament as a champion not just of their community but of all those fighting for peace and in solidarity with the oppressed around the world.
