Fantastic news! We met our June appeal target – which was matched by a very generous donor – so a big thank you to all of our supporters who so generously contributed.
Over the summer months our programme of online events and social media campaigns will continue; we hope this will attract more new members and supporters. We also hope to launch our new website.
The lockdown period has seen us reach larger audiences than we could have imagined. We have held eight national events over just three months and have heard some amazing speakers.
The pandemic has laid bare the disparity between rich and poor – both within and between states – and we have seen war-torn countries such as Yemen, Syria and Libya struggle to fight the virus with depleted health services, while bombs continue to fall.
Now that parts of the world are beginning to emerge from the health crisis, an economic crisis looms. Competition between states will intensify and those countries which have fared badly during the pandemic – notably the UK and US – will seek to blame others for their failure. International tensions will rise.
To ensure that we are in as strong a position as possible to take the anti-war movement forward in the autumn we are setting our summer appeal target at £4,000. We know that times are tough, but ask that those who are in a position to donate – however small an amount – to please do so. Help us emerge from this crisis even stronger.
